This is one of the books that make me awake for more than 30 hours. Elizabeth Kostova is the writer of this novel entitled The Historian. Don't think it's a history kinda books, it's not. It is a novel that based on literature and history about Dracula. or related with someone named Vlad Ţepeş.
The story goes back and forth from present, decades ago, and back to present. I like this kind if novel because make me frustrated to find out what actually Kostova want to deliver.
It's not a thriller novel but more to a traveler historical adventure things. Hard to explain. haha
Start with the handmade book that has been found by the narrator and try to find out with asking to the narrator's father, Paul. He then bring the book to his mentor in university named Rossi, unexpectedly have the same book. They tried to found out that the book is actually about Dracula.
Rossi traveled to Istanbul but then return without any result. But he said before he disappear that he believe Dracula is still alive and true. When Paul loooking for Rossi, he met Rossi's daughter, who is an expert in Dracula history. She had letters from her mother (narrator) about his father's journey when dis a research about Dracula and with Paul she travel not only to try find where her father is but also try to find out the truth of Dracula.
Then... the adventure start.
I'm not going to tell you all of the story. haha
Read this book and it's worth to not sleep more than 30 hours to finish this novel.
